Hi-Lo
A few days ago, my Maxsym faced with a problem related to the Hi-Lo shutter mechanism. It seems that the light projection of projector type headlamp was not even and the left projection is abnormally too high.
So I decided to drop by at an authorised service centre in Kuala Lumpur to have it checked and also rectified.
I was informed by the service personnel who made the inspection that my Maxsym's left headlamp is damaged and needs to be replaced. The quoted price for one unit of the main headlamp (not one SET, mind you) is RM822. It was expensive so I made the decision to let it be for the moment and replace it later when I have the budget.
Anyway, during the ride headingto home, it strucked me , "what if I dissamble the unit for in depth inspection and see for my self the source of the problem..what if it can be fixed?"
I then head for Maju Motor Racing at Section 16, Shah Alam with the intention to make use of the workshop's tools to dismantle the component. A detailed inspection was carried out and every single component including the magnetic coil that activates the Hi-lo shutter was inspected and tested.
After identifying the source of the problem, it was the single arm pin that connect the mechanism from the shutter to the magnetic coil was detached and lodged itself between the spring. After carefully assembling it back and sprayed it with WD 40, hey presto!! it worked.
So, the moral of the story is...sometime you need not take it word by word what some service personel would tell you of his diagnosis and conclusion. Sometime, we do need to think out of the box to solve certain problems
